Jim McKay's Maryland Million

The Maryland Million is the oldest million dollar payday race series in America, and has put the Maryland racing industry in the spotlight via extensive media coverage and onsite attendance.

Purpose
To benefit the horse racing industry in the State of Maryland.

The History
The nation's only million dollar race day began 14 years ago with ABC Sports' Jim McKay as the spearhead. Jim remains a driving force for this event that has traditionally attracted the best Maryland has to offer - horses, people, media and entertainment.

The Promoter
The Maryland Million is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting horse breeders and the horse industry in general for the State of Maryland.

Saturday, October 9, 2004.

Location
Event has rotated between Baltimore's Pimlico and Laurel Raceways. The 2000 event will be held at Laurel Raceways.

Broadcast live for 2 hours (4pm - 6pm, Saturday, October 14) on WBFF-45. More than 100 promotional spots will air on WNUV and WBFF.

Estimated rating for live broadcast, which will lead into baseball championship coverage is
5 to 7.

Radio Partner
Six top Washington and Baltimore stations will air spots with Baltimore's #1 WQSR broadcasting live on site.

A full color supplement will appear in all editions of the Baltimore Sun. Additional advertising will also appear in the Post.
